Privacy policy

This policy covers the Walkadia website (walkadia.app) and the Walkadia app for iPhone and Apple Watch.

The short version

  • The Walkadia app is built to keep your data on your device. Your walking routes, information about your pace, and your health data are all processed locally by your device, and are never sent to us.
  • The website collects your email address only if you choose to sign up for the Walkadia newsletter, and uses it only to send you the updates you asked for.
  • We don't run third-party advertising or sell personal information.

The website

Signing up

If you sign up on walkadia.app, we collect your name and email address. We use it to send you news about Walkadia. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

The site is hosted by Ghost (ghost.org), which processes this information on our behalf. You can read Ghost's own privacy commitments at ghost.org/privacy.

Cookies and analytics

The site sets a cookie only to keep you signed in if you've subscribed. We look at aggregate statistics (like how many people visited a page) but do not track individual visitors around the web, and we don't use third-party advertising or tracking scripts.

The app

Walkadia generates ambient sound from your walk. To do that it reads your walking cadence from your device's motion sensors and, if you opt in, your heart rate from Apple Health. Here is how that data is handled:

  • Everything stays on your device. Motion and health data are used in the moment, to shape the sound as you walk. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
  • Health access is read-only and optional. The app works without it. If you grant access, heart rate is used only to adjust the character of the sound, and you can revoke access at any time in the Health app.
  • Raw health data is not stored. If you opt in to session summaries, the app keeps aggregate numbers only (like average pace), locally on your device.

Walkadia is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Advertising and install measurement

We advertise Walkadia on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. To learn whether those ads lead to installs, we use Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution (SKAdNetwork / AdAttributionKit): when someone installs the app after seeing an ad, Apple sends the advertising platform an aggregate, anonymized signal. It doesn't identify you or your device, and it never includes anything about your walks or your health. We don't embed advertising SDKs in the app, we don't use your data to target ads, and the app never shows ads.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from emails with the link in any message, or by writing to us.
  • Ask us to delete your subscriber record entirely by emailing the address below.
  • Revoke the app's health access at any time in the Health app on your iPhone.
  • Delete the app to remove all data stored by the app.

Children

Walkadia is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects how your information is handled, we'll email subscribers before it takes effect.
